Brandishing the brass belt by a chilly Saturday night's end, House-Cat Havoc claimed victory in the Inaugural Word Wrestling Federation Australian Team Poetry Slam title bout.
Spouting rhymes and lines in and out of time, House-Cat Havoc (Bravo, Citizen Tom, MC Zoe Zee and Sarah Mae) of New South Wales were most triumphant in declaring their wordsmithing over the Legend of the Overfiends (Steve Smart, Lish, Paul Skec and Meg Dunn) of Victoria.
On the journey toward the title and belt, victims of the wordsmith warriors included Steel Wool, The Trophy Wives and Slam Dunce. Fallen by the wayside. Death and defeat taken in stride.
Refereed by Sean Whelan in the homely industrial stank of FAD Gallery in Melbourne, it was a fight night of lyrical and poetic might.
