Lorry Driving's Fun

It seems that a Raymond George Morgan has been banned for driving until the year 3001 for a "horrendous" driving record. This record includes, but is not limited to, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving while disqualified (apparently there are 30 such counts against Mr. Morgan) and driving with no windscreen or breaks.

In fact, the only reason that Raymond George Morgan was pulled over this last time by the police was that he had no tail-lights. That and they suspected that he was a Mufti. It was then that they realised that Raymond George Morgan was not legally allowed to drive until 2999. After his arrest, the judge sentenced Raymond George Morgan to a further six months in jail (he has already served 18) and added two more years to his driving ban.

I think that the most bizarre aspect of the whole case was the decision to add a further two years to his driving ban. I understand that the six month jail sentence could serve as a deterrent but I fail to see how adding two years to a thousand year driving ban is going to make Raymond George Morgan mend his ways. It's not as if Raymond George Morgan had a chance of making it to 2999 and that the addition of these two final years to his driving ban have, just now, put the chance of him driving ever again out of reach.

Adding two years to the driving ban, seems to me, to be like a fat person with a glandular problem; it's an exercise in futility. Yeah, I know, that was a very crass joke, I'm sorry.
