Following the dismal ratings and reception of the fourth series of Popstars, producers are still hitting the headlines for a desperate attempt at attention. First on the block was the lining up of mediocre talent. Unfazed, they then added saccharine judges hell bent on out-"nice"-ing each other. Seeing things take more of a downward run, they then dropped most of the judges while keeping everything else the same.
Now they've decided to take on a more subversive route.
Cancer stricken celebrities—though a questionable label to many—made their irradiated presence felt on last night's annual Logies celebrations. A visiting Anastacia, a wiry Belinda Emmett and recovering Delta Goodrem. Goodrem was tipped to win the Gold Logie thanks to her cancer stunt but the side notes were turned over to the anorexic Sophie Monk attempting to steal the sympathy non-votes.
Monk, an alumni of the manufacturing plant known as Screentime's Popstars was slowly carted off to hospital making sure many reporters and journalists on the scene mentioned the one time product, Bardot. To follow up with a quick suit, their former manager Grant Thomas has finally begun legal action against the producers. With the Scott Michaelson v Holly Vallance case having played so well with the media it could turn out that the Popstars name will at least stay in the headlines when the talent subsides minutes following the final credits.
