Who would pay to watch a rapper run around in the city streets of New York without the zipping of bullets overhead? And in the harsh UV beaming time of daylight? Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs is expecting a lot as he sets himself up for a running of the gauntlet that is the New York City Marathon later on in November.
The initiative, Diddy Runs the City, is expected to raise awareness about the state of education and health for the city kids. That and about one million dollars to help it along.
"Children are our future and they are not receiving the education and healthcare that is imperative for their growth," said Combs. "My hope is that by running the ING New York City Marathon this year, I not only raise money for these charities, but, I also raise people's consciousness about these critical social issues and motivate others to act."
Not to go at it alone, other corporate donors include Nike, MTV, McDonald's, Sean John, Foot Locker, Pinnacle Vitamins and Hot 97 FM.
"Every child needs a high quality education and proper healthcare in order to succeed in their own 'Marathon of Life,'" stated Combs.
So children dropping dead from severe exhaustion due to their lungs having been seriously damaged from the crack and smoke is surely not going to look good at all.
