It seems that the war on terror has found for itself an invaluable new ally.
Neal Rowland, owner of Cubbie's in North Carolina, has demonstrated his support for US troops by renaming french fries "freedom fries" in response to the French decision to not support a war on Iraq.
The whole thing smacks of an exercise in profiteering instead of patriotism. Not only is Cubbie's a restaurant noted for attracting a large proportion of military personnel, Rowland also points out that he means no disrespect towards the French. I guess that while their politics are not welcome, their francs certainly are.
While I would never think to speak for Neal Rowland of North Carolina, I think the most disappointing aspect, as far as the esteemed owner of Cubbie's is concerned, is that the oil that the 'coalition of the willing' is frothing at the mouth to liberate can't be used to cook his "freedom fries".
